Live weekly on YouTube
Building real things.
In the open. Together.
The Open Source Show is a live workshop with the garage door open, where projects have consequences, tools get stress-tested, and opinions are backed by actual experience.
Not easy. Not polished. Real.
Why this exists
Builders deserve better than "build X in 10 minutes."
The open source content landscape is saturated with surface-level coverage. New frameworks get announced, dozens of creators race to publish tutorials, and nobody comes back six months later to show whether it actually worked.
Builders need honest assessments from someone who has used the tools under real conditions: the debugging sessions, the dependency conflicts, the moments where something popular turns out to be a poor fit. A source they can trust to say "this is not ready" when that is the truth.
The formats
Four ways we cover the work.
Build Series
The anchor format. Multi-episode arcs where we take a project from zero to something real. Decisions happen on camera. Walls get hit. Direction changes.
Teardowns
We take an open source project, tool, or framework and put it through real use. Not first impressions. Actual usage, honest findings, where it shines and where it doesn't.
Spotlights
Shorter segments surfacing open source projects that deserve attention. An honest read on under-the-radar tools that save builders time.
Open Source Landscape
Coverage of real developments: major releases, licensing shifts, corporate moves. Opinionated and grounded in what it means for people who actually ship things.
Principles
How the show operates.
Continuity over novelty
We return to projects. We show what broke. We refactor. We maintain.
Honesty over hype
We say when something isn't ready. We recommend the less trendy option if it works better.
Building over talking
The work is the content. The contrast with surface-level content will be self-evident through what we ship.
Practical over theoretical
Every decision filtered through: what does this mean for someone shipping this week?
Community over audience
We're building a group of people who build together, not a passive viewership.
For the builders
Build alongside us.
The show is free on YouTube. The Builder Group is for people who want deeper involvement: community, early access to upcoming projects, and priority on getting your own work featured.
